New Zealand’s stunning scenery has famously provided the backdrop for fictional worlds in fantasy films. A unique cloud that forms over the Otago region of the country’s South Island also evokes the otherworldly, while very much existing in reality.

Space science is fun! NASA astronaut and Expedition 72 Flight Engineer Don Pettit fills this sphere of water with food coloring creating a Jupiter-like effect in the microgravity environment of the International Space Station.

Nearly four decades ago, astronomers spotted one of the brightest exploding stars in more than 400 years. The titanic supernova, called Supernova 1987A (SN 1987A), blazed with the power of 100 million suns for several months following its discovery on Feb. 23, 1987.

The Oort Cloud comet, called C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, passes over Southeast Louisiana near New Orleans, home of NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility, Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024. The comet is making its first appearance in documented human history; it was last seen in the night sky 80,000 years ago. The Tsuchinshan-ATLAS comet made its first close pass by Earth in mid-October and will remain visible to viewers in the Northern Hemisphere just between the star Arcturus and planet Venus through early November.

The space shuttle fleet flew 135 missions and helped construct the International Space Station between the first launch on April 12, 1981 and the final landing on July 21, 2011. A SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket carrying NASA’s Europa Clipper spacecraft lifts off from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 12:06 p.m. EDT on Monday, Oct. 14, 2024. After launch, the spacecraft plans to fly by Mars in February 2025, then back by Earth in December 2026, using the gravity of each planet to increase its momentum. With help of these “gravity assists,” Europa Clipper will achieve the velocity needed to reach Jupiter in April 2030.

The often-snowcapped peak of Mount Taranaki is the centerpiece of Egmont National Park. Many mysql processes "/usr/bin/mariadbd" and CPU at 100%,makes Friendica unstable

Hello @Friendica Support I need your support please
I have a problem for a few weeks now which makes my server unstable , and makes Friendica inaccessible, the simplest and fastest solution is to restart the server.
I noticed that this problem also happens to me when I send friend requests

Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS
Friendica version 2024.08
mariadb Ver 15.1 Distrib 10.11.8-MariaDB, for debian-linux-gnu (x86_64) using EditLine wrapper

As you can see from the screenshot there are many mysql processes , /usr/bin/mariadbd , and the CPU is at 100%

Some help please...

Thanks
Cheers

in reply to Anomaly ☑️

Have a look at your MySQL/MariaDB settings. It seems as if you could assign more memory to it. Have a look at the innodb settings. I can't really suggest any specific values, see here: mariadb.com/kb/en/mariadb-memo…
in reply to Michael 🇺🇦

Hi @Michael Vogel
I tried to change my configuration /etc/mysql/my.cnf I added

[mysqld]

join_buffer_size = 2M
innodb_log_file_size = 1G
tmp_table_size = 512M
max_heap_table_size = 512M
wait_timeout = 60
max_connections = 500
skip-name-resolve
query_cache_size=64M
innodb_buffer_pool_size=4600M
key_buffer_size=1G
innodb_file_per_table=1
innodb_log_buffer_size=212M
innodb_buffer_pool_instances=5
innodb_flush_log_at_trx_commit = 1
innodb_flush_method = O_DIRECT
open_files_limit=40000
table_open_cache=2200
wait_timeout=28800
interactive_timeout=28800
max_connections=1000

This is the current configuration,I made small changes at a time, but the problem is the same (Bad Gateway Error 502), with the other configurations I had little RAM usage but the CPU was at 100% .

It could be an inefficient/Slow query? 🙄

Hello everyone @Friendica Support !
I filed this issue on github and it has been pretty ignored. Of course I don't expect it to be taken into consideration, but I would like to know if I'm the only one who perceives this feature as a problem. I would also be curious to know if in your opinion the issue is easily solvable, or if it requires an unjustifiable effort?

For those who do not have a GitHub account, I report the text of the Issue here:

Good evening everyone.

Introduction

Like most software in the Fediverse, Friendica accounts can also be "followed" through their RSS feed.

In this way, it is possible to use the string https://INSTANCENAME/feed/USERNAME/

For example, the account of the Friendica group "School" is
poliverso.org/feed/scuola/

Is the feature request related to a problem? Please describe.

Unfortunately, however, the feed of the Fediverse accounts publishes only the contents of that account and not, for example, those reshared.

This choice, although understandable for normal accounts, is much less understandable for Groups (the former Forums), since these groups do not publish (if not rarely) their own contents.

Describe the feature you'd like

The developers Lemmy have brilliantly solved the problem with their "Communities" (the Lemmy version of Activitypub groups) and today it is possible to follow the feed of the Lemmy communities through the string
https://ISTANZA/feeds/c/NOMEUTENTE.xml?sort=New

And in fact the feed of the "Fediverso" community is perfectly queryable by a feed reader
feddit.it/feeds/c/fediverso.xm…

Even Lemmy displays a feed that presents all the posts published in the local communities (https://ISTANZA/feeds/local.xml?sort=New) and even all those of the federated "timeline" (ISTANZA/feeds/all.xml?sort=New).

I therefore wonder if it is not possible to make it so that at least the "Group" type accounts can display a feed that also includes shared content.

Describe alternatives you've considered

I can't think of any valid alternatives.
I tried in vain to follow a Friendica Group with a Lemmy account (basically I signed up to the "group" which obviously in Lemmy is seen as a "Community"): basically I wanted to use Lemmy to make him export the RSS feed...
Unfortunately, however, there are still problems that do not allow the contents of Friendica to be correctly synchronized in the community view of Lemmy.

Good morning everyone @Friendica Support

I would like to try to understand why from Friendica I can't connect to the Wordpress blog of @.mau. :friendfeed: already federated with @Matthias Pfefferle plugin, which is instead displayed correctly by Mastodon.
The blog is xmau.com/ while the user who publishes is @Notiziole di .mau.

If I paste the address of this post xmau.com/wp/notiziole/2024/08/…

in the Friendica toolbar, I get an error, while if I paste it on mastodon, I can view the post (here is an example: mastodon.social/@

Furthermore, if I try to search on Friendica for the user @Notiziole di .mau. I can see it, but if I try to follow it, I still get an error.

NB: I also have federation problems with Lemmy and not just with Friendica

Have any of you figured out what the problem might be that prevents Friendica and Lemmy from federating with that blog (but not Mastodon)?
